NEW YORK, June 19, 2014 – Frontier Healthcare Holdings, a New York-based developer and manager of ambulatory surgery centers, partnered with the physicians of Long Island Digestive Disease Consultants to open a gastroenterology ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in Suffolk County, N.Y.
The ASC, Long Island Digestive Endoscopy Center, saw its first patients on June 9, 2014. Long Island Digestive Endoscopy Center is Frontier Healthcare’s ninthASC opening in the state of New York, and is the company’s first ASC in Suffolk County.
With the opening of the center, the physicians will perform their procedures at a newly constructed, state-of-the-art, 10,000 square foot facility. Located only five miles from the group’s current practice, the three-procedure room facility includes five pre-op and 10 recovery beds, and is expected accommodate more than 8,000 patient visits during its first year of operation. The center has been designed to allow for future growth. The Long Island Digestive Endoscopy Center will employ approximately 20 staff members, including nurses, technicians and administrative staff. In addition, the center will also provide outreach programs that offer free or reduced-charge colorectal cancer screenings to uninsured individuals within the community.
“Frontier is excited to continue its partnership with a leading group of gastroenterologists to help to deliver best-in-class care to patients in the Suffolk community,” said Jordan Fowler, CEO of Frontier Healthcare. Frontier Healthcare will manage the ASC on behalf of the physicians, providing operational, administrative, billing and strategic advisory services.
Long Island Digestive Disease Consultants has been recognized as a premier gastroenterology practice in Suffolk County for more than 30 years. The group developed the ASC to ensure its patients are treated at a state-of-the-art facility that is equipped to deliver best-in-class healthcare. The physicians’ existing practice, Long Island Digestive Disease Consultants, will continue at its present location at 8 Technology Drive in the Stony Brook Tech Park in Setauket. “We have been developing this project for more than five years,” said Dr. Eugene Coman, Medical Director. “Our goals have been to provide the safest, most comfortable and most medically advanced services to our patients. Proudly, we can say these have been achieved.” The physicians hold privileges at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, St. Charles Hospital and Stony Brook University Hospital.
